things I love #1
I just downloaded the original "The Little Mermaid" and I have watched it twice since last night.
What is with my obsession with old cartoon classics like this?
1. Nobody writes stories like the old ones. There is just something so classic about the little mermaid, the sleeping beauty, pocahantos, etc. Stories simple enough to interest, yet inspire children and adults alike to live beautiful lives.
2. Music. The soundtrack for every Disney movie is on my itunes and I can promise you it gives you the most amazing feeling when you're listening to the right soundtrack at the right time and place. I was listening to "Part of your world" at Krabi, and I can almost imagine how the composers wrote the song. How they can empathise with a mermaid who would give anything in return to be human. Ahh...
3. Art. Moving art is fascinating and amazing without having to explain itself.
4. Cheerful. Always cheers me up without effort, even though I always tear when the bad guy wins temporarily.
5. Short and easy. The plot is simple and straight to the point. There is no need to sit through a 3 hour movie with layers upon layers of complicated subplot only to end the movie with an unsatisfying ending, or worse, an ending you don't understand because the director's trying so hard to beat the stereotype and come up with a revolutionary plot.
