I've got it all wrong.
I've read the letters over and over again and only now, 4 years later; does it register a profound meaning. Why can't I seem to remember anything I've said back then, or any moment we've shared. Why do I remember all the other things. All the other things that don't matter.
in the end, when it truly mattered; I dropped the ball.
When it truly mattered, I didn't make the cut.
