Soul Mates
soul mates.
having watched the entire Sex and the city series in under a week (including the two later movies, the latter of which was such a disappointment) it got me to thinking. The theme of finding love in NYC is a recurring one in SATC (not forgetting the sex), it keeps one wondering if love was really out there. After all ,who's to argue otherwise when the series conclude with the girls all finding happiness in love one way or another.
it got me to thinking how many potential people i have met throughout the course of my life. Was any one of them my soulmate, and I've simply missed the chance to have the mind blowing love that was going to change my life forever? Was art simply imitation of real life, and I had to go out there and start meeting all these random people, simply because the right one is just waiting out there?
I know it sounds fantastical to base life upon fiction, especially one as sexist as SATC, but you cannot deny there's heaps of resemblance to real life in the series.
was true love really out there? what we deem soul mates, and what does it take to find it?
and what if we missed out on it simply out of coincidence? is that how spinsters came about?
I have absolutely no clue. I thought by 21 I'd have this all figured out, but I guess all it takes is a chance encounter, 5 minutes tops with someone you absolutely have the spark with; to challenge your principles on whether or not a soul mate exists.
it's all about that one stranger that shakes your core with just a smile.
I just wish I had taken a picture. and had a phone with a better megapixel
